Part I: Questions and Answers (30%)
What is a "network architecture"? What is a "software architecture"? What are the major issues involved with describing network and software architectures?
Describe how the World-Wide-Web architecture have evolved since its inception in the late 1980's?
What are the major issues related to developing Internet and Web software (compared to standalone software)? How are these issues related to the new agile methodologies?
Maximum length for each question: 300 words (not counting Reference section).
Part II: Analyse scenarios, decide on approach and produce solutions (70%)
- You have been hired as a technical consultant for Murdoch University. You have been asked to provide a description of the architecture of one of the following three categories of technologies:
- Streaming media over the Internet
- Web Services
- One specific web server architecture (eg Apache or Microsoft IIS).
You have been told that the purpose of your description is to help the University staff improve their productivity by using these technologies in more creative ways.
Assignment submission requirements (minimum 2 pages, maximum 10 pages):
- A description of how you approach coming up with an architecture description, and
- The architecture description.
- Describe any ONE agile methodology, concentrating on how decisions are made within the methodology. You answer should consist of 3 sections:
- When the methodology is appropriate to use compared to traditional non-agile methodologies.
- When the methodology is appropriate to use compared to other agile methodologies.
- What and when decisions are made in a project that adopts the methodology (eg. what is decided before the project starts, what is decide before a cycle, what is decided during daily runs, etc).
Assignment submission restrictions (minimum 2 pages, maximum 10 pages).
