Lecture Topic 2: The World Wide Web
Description
This topic deals with the underlying technologies supporting communication through what is called the World Wide Web (WWW). We define what is considered to be the World-Wide-Web, the protocols implemented by all software on the WWW, as well as looking into the two most important components of WWW: the browser and the web server.
This topic also covers the foundations for an important part of this unit: web application programming. The lectures will lead to programming exercises your will be doing in the labs and in your assignment 2. It introduces client-side scripting using JavaScript, and server-side programming using PHP.
