OPTUS@HOME has stood by its policy to investigate claims of software piracy by its customers after furious users accused the broadband internet provider of spying.
Optus@Home recently sent an alert to users warning that they risked termination of their accounts if they were found to be downloading copyright-protected movies and unlicensed software.
Angry users have posted comments at telco discussion site whirlpool.net.au, accusing Optus@Home of invading their privacy and using scare tactics to limit bandwidth usage.
However, Optus@Home chief executive Chris Chapman said his company took the issue of piracy very seriously and wanted to play a responsible role in copyright protection.
